crazy pipe dreams
i picked my crazy pipe dream for the next year and a half:
i want to transfer to yale after i get my AA.
YALE, you ask? why YALE?
a couple reasons....
because it's something i'm going to have to work fucking hard for, if i want any chance at all (which means, if i want as good odds as most of the people who are applying, which aren't very good odds at all)
because it's a fucking beautiful campus in all the ways my campus is not- i'll be spending two years soaking in natural beauty, and then two years soaking in gothic, architectural beauty, which is something we lack at the Rock, but which i've always admired
because despite what they say about the ivys not at all being the best choice for everyone, it's still going to be a fucking GOOD-ASS education, and you can't deny that- there are thousands of opportunities i wouldn't have anywhere else
because the name will help getting my career jumpstarted- you can't deny that a big ol' YALE on my resume will make the difference if i'm fighting a state-schooler (nothing against state schools, of course) for a job
because when i want to do something big and create something good, i'm going to need capital to work with- and i would say that yale's networking system for connections and investors is unrivaled
so yeah, i'm kinda crazy... but i'm SMART crazy....
and i do know that i have somewhere close to a snowball's chance in hell of actually getting it, but YOU'RE crazy if you think that's going to stop me from applying.
i'll probably also apply to swarthmore, haverford, temple, west chester, nyu, columbia, and umass.
which means all that admissions stress that i avoided by going to the rock will finally catch up with.
on another note, i'd like to wish my dad a somewhat public HAPPY FIFTIETH BIRTHDAY!!!!! dad, you should take my advice and get high for your birthday, but i don't think you will even if i offer and persuade you with all my lawyery skills (and yes i'm proud of my skills but stop trying to get me to go into law i'm not interested!) just because i'm your 16 year old daughter, so i don't know if i'll try at all.
I LOVE YOU DAD.
